I have completed and mailed in a permit application of sorts to the Consumer Affairs and Fair Trading office today, complete with police char. reference check!

Apparently since I am an individual wishing to collect for a charitable purpose, not on behalf of a charitable organisation, I need a permit. It appears that this permit allows me to sollicit donations for a non-profit purpose within Tasmania. If I were to solicit funds elsewhere I would need to fill out similar forms there as well!! So one for Victoria, one for ACT,... and 87354 for the various counties in USA, a few hundred for Netherlands, a few thousand for the UK.... maybe there is a better way!

Anyway, it is a start.

Since it is most likely that the remaining funds would go to the CF Australia Research fund and they are apparently not registered as a non-profit organisation in Tasmania they would not be allowed to solicit the money from the Great COFE, I would have to approach them and offer it to them without being asked.... is this clear?

It has been decided there will be no COFE raffles, which means I do not need to get in touch with the Liquor and Gaming Branch representing the Tasmanian Gaming Commission (www.gaming.tas.gov.au)

The other step forward worthy of mentioning is the ONLINE DIARY that I set up where I will post photos and stories along the way, and perhaps some photos of preparations... suggestions always welcome: http://cofe4cf.blogspot.com/

That's all folks!
