OK, I am back home in Tasmania! Brought with me a large number of maps and guide books which I have been studying to determine a tentative route. The route is currently here: http://spreadsheets.google.com . As I have really no idea if this is practical or not I am open to suggestions! Because population centers and pollution is bad for my lungs I am not detouring into some major cities, but am not avoiding those en route. The major cities apart from Istanbul and Paris are Vienna, Budapest and Belgrade as they are right on the Danube. The total distance of the route I planned is 3935 kilometers (2445 miles) long. The average daily distance is 63 kilometers (39 miles). The longest distance cycled in one day is 115 kilometers (72 miles). Of course this is a suggested ittinerary and in small villages where there are no commitments it may well vary depending on how we feel.

Currently we have David (Paramedic) riding with me the whole way, Tiina (Physical Trainer and Masseuse) in the support vehicle, and Heather (Professional Sports Writer) is almost certainly riding the whole distance as well. There have been several people interested in smaller segments. They include journalists, photographers, dieticians, physiotherapists and doctors.
