This weekend I competed in the Tullah Challenge in preparation for the Great COFE for Cystic Fibrosis next year! It was a huge event, mainly sponsored by Hydro Tasmania! Hydro's vision is to be Tasmania’s world-renowned renewable energy business. Considering how important fresh air is to us people with bad lungs I approached the Hydro Tasmania's representative for support! I also met a person from Burnie who is very interested in helping the Great COFE for Cf as well as joining in the ride! He is a sports trainer as well as a renowned dentist!

Anyway, I did not finish last in any of the three sports; Kayaking (5km), Riding (30km) and running (7.5km). The event is typically frequented by a small group of keen athletes who generally organise a team of three. Some do it solo. I of course had to prove myself and do it solo. The ride's record is held by Louise Yaxley who was involved in the terrible crash last year where Amy Gillett was killed.

My wife took photos, they can be seen: http://picasaweb.google.com/vanpraag/TullahChallenge.

Another note of interest... not worthy of a separate diary entry.... The Australian Tax Office told me I can not be a registered tax-deductible recipient for some reason and will need to set up a trust fund. This involves lawyers and accountants, and complicates my life even more. If someone is able to help me with this please email me:
